This adaptive reuse project converted the existing, 11,500 sf wood-frame Simi Valley Police Station and Courthouse into the Simi Valley YMCA, expanding the facility by an additional 14,000 sf. The enlarged building encompasses an array of fitness amenities, including a lap pool, a hydrotherapy pool, exercise rooms, an aerobics room, locker rooms and a multi-purpose room. It also houses a child care center, a conference room and an administration wing. The structure’s rotunda lobby evokes its civic roots. Scope included development of the five-acre site with a special family park area, landscaping, drainage and a surface parking lot for 148 cars.
