The Village Walk is a mixed-use project on busy Ventura Boulevard in Tarzana, California. It includes two levels each of sub-grade parking and above-grade commercial with restaurant and retail spaces. Site work included architectural concrete paving and landscaped sidewalks highlighted by a water feature. One challenge was to move overhead utility lines that crossed the site to underground duct banks. To reduce the interruptions for surrounding companies, MATT took extra care to coordinate the street work. Additionally, the site was next to a high school, so safety was a major concern. To mitigate, MATT took measures to ensure access for student drop-off and pick-up. Careful consideration of the surrounding community made this project a success.
