Wilshire Boulevard Temple

Rabbi Steven Leder guides us through the completed restoration of Wilshire Boulevard Temple. Flashbacks from the construction process include teams rigging bronze “spice box” chandeliers, painting sacred murals commissioned by Jack Warner and fitting repaired stained-glass windows into place. Originally built in 1929, the sanctuary features a striking 100 ft diameter octagonal honeycomb dome that stands at 110 ft tall. Extensive retrofitting modernized and strengthened the building’s frame to withstand seismic activity and provided a revitalized place of worship for congregants in the coming century and beyond.
