Under a tight schedule during the off season for the Hollywood Bowl, MATT Construction renovated the iconic venue’s box office for the first time in nearly 20 years and built an additional pre-function space. Upgrades included an extension to the building to create a more open space for visitors, a store featuring performers’ merchandise and souvenirs, and a market stocked with a variety of snacks and beverages. The team extended the roof terrace picnic area and added glass walls for diners to watch the action below before events. A custom steel trellis with perforated, triangular-shaped fins spans the space above the box office. To optimize assembly speed, the trellis was prefabricated and erected on site in sections, requiring close coordination with the fin and structural steel subcontractors. Despite days lost due to an abnormally rainy winter in Southern California, the team met the tight schedule through committed work and coordination.
