Over a two-year period, MATT construction built three phases of construction on campus for the largest Catholic high school west of Chicago. The first phase of Mater Dei’s master plan included the 13,000 sf LeVecke Student Activities Center and the 55,000 sf Borchard Family Library Academic Services Complex. The Academic Services Complex, steel-framed with a masonry and plaster façade, includes a state-of-the-art academic wing with 22 new classrooms, a science wing with cutting-edge labs and lecture rooms, a college and career guidance center, a learning center, a library and a computer center. The Activities Center, also steel-framed, is the campus hub for social activities, dining and group meetings. A curved, sloping canopy covers the outdoor dining area and defines a two-story, multi-purpose space ringed on three sides by a full service kitchen and other amenities. The Mater Dei High School Science and Library Building project required demolition of existing facilities. All buildings were constructed during the academic year on a fully operational campus.
