MATT took on a design-build project with CO Architects to build a new research laboratory and offices for Professors Yuki Oka and Betty Hong of Caltech’s Biology & Biological Engineering Division located on the first floor and basement of the existing 1974 Beckman Behavioral Biology Laboratory Building. The area features a main lab at 5,900 sf, configuration space at 2,200 sf, 2,500 sf of shell space and approximately 400 sf of ADA restroom and drinking fountain upgrades. Scope for the Caltech Oka and Hong Lab also included the relocation of the current mail room to the basement, modernization of the dark room, a new CITNET room, a new equipment room and new laboratory animal research rooms.
