MATT Construction’s six months of preconstruction services included value engineering studies for the structural frame and exterior wall system. Frank Gehry’s original design for the Disney Ice space, which specified steel trusses with compound curves, required construction materials and techniques that put the project beyond the reach of the owner’s scope. MATT worked with Gehry’s office to introduce an alternative material (glulam beams with extruded aluminum attachments), bringing the project in on time and under budget.
