Restoration and conversion of a 21,600 sf abandoned movie theater into a live theater building. The Kirk Douglas Theatre project required demolition, hazardous material abatement, structural strengthening and historical preservation. The Type 3 building is a concrete slab on grade with a second level and mechanical mezzanine. The roof structure is composed of existing wooden bow trusses. Exterior walls consist of existing poured-in-place concrete.
