On a busy corner of the Universal Studios lot, MATT’s team completed construction of a new, five-story office building and renovation/expansion of an existing sound stage to serve as a live-audience television studio. The office building utilizes a structural steel frame and conventional shallow foundations with a building enclosure of plaster and glass. The existing sound stage building consists of concrete walls/pilasters and a wood roof system. The NBC Live sound stage renovation included CMU bearing walls, steel floor and roof framing and deep foundations to match the existing system. The stage building enclosure is a mixture of plaster and painted CMU.
