The USC Glorya Kaufman International Dance Center on the University of Southern California campus is the three-story red brick home for the new USC Kaufman School of Dance. This world-class facility houses a studio performance space, five medium and small dance studios, dressing rooms, four classrooms and offices for faculty and administrators. The third floor features a large collaborative space for dance majors.
Large Gothic arched openings bring generous amounts of natural light into the spaces and create monumental openings for entries into the building. A grand staircase and radial walls serve a multi-story lobby at the main entrance, and the skin of the building is Roman brick hand-laid in a diaper pattern. The sloped roofs of the building are Italian tile. Window surrounds of precast concrete with detailed articulation give the building balance and richness.
